What does online activism mean for the left in British politics? How should relationships between bloggers, NGOs, political parties, journalists work? How do you build genuine online activism, as opposed to slacktivism?

Those are some of the issues that arte going to be looked at during the inaugural Netroots UK, taking place 8th January in London. It costs £5 to attend, and you can register here. I’m helping out the TUC with the organisation of the event and will be running a couple of workshops (exact topics tbc at the moment, but it’s not hard to guess if you regularly read this blog…)

Overall I’m very glad the event is happening – building networks of bloggers offline is vital. It’s easier to build working relationships with people, really trust them, after actually meeting them in person. That’s precisely the point of the Netroots Sweden event I attended earlier this year.

So what are you waiting for? Sign up!
