Sometimes you come across things in London that are utterly ludicrous. Today I noticed the sign pictured – that some person Walworth has installed a CCTV system to protect their plants on the street from theft. Now, either the plants have all already been stolen, or else the person is paranoid – see the picture of the grim plants the CCTV protects! Further, the implication from the sign is that if the plants belonged to Southwark Council then it would actually be OK to steal them. So that’s OK then. Then there’s the old issue that the Brits always view CCTV as a solution to any sort of problem – hence we have more cameras on our streets than any other European country…
