Only now have I had the opportunity to download and do something with my pictures from the weekend in Lisbon and Porto after the PES Congress. Overall the Portuguese are a stylish bunch, but somehow they manage to let all of their worst tendencies escape when it comes to how they ‘celebrate’ Christmas. Never before have I seen such an over-the-top combination of lights as in Lisbon; the sheer scale of their efforts was astounding. Further, there’s an enormous 70m high lit and animated Christmas Tree construction in Lisbon – horrid!
A pity you only noticed the kitsch ones, wonder why… of course English aren’t known all over Europe for their kitsch tastes… yeah, I get it dude!
Perhaps it would be better for you to get rid of that narrow mind you’re showing, especially if you want to keep working to multicultural institutions. You know: mind is like a parachute, it works better when it’s opened 😉
… Merry Christmas B)
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaw i love christmas lights 🙂 i think they look great hehehe
i would have enjoyed myself like a kid in Porto, though of course me attending a Socialist Party event is really highly unlikely :P.
lovely photo by the way! And at the risk of pissing you off, have a very merry Christmas Jon and hope you enjoy it as much as you can 🙂
don’t reply with a Bah Humbug!
Oi oi, so many familiar faces I miss on the photos! And when it comes to x-mas kitch, I have to say that Berlin doesn´t fall far behind. Everywhere you look lightslightslights and endless christmas markets selling crap, blinking neon lights, tivoli equipments, children screaming. Ush. And all this must cost a fortune
