I’m off for 4 days to Scandinavia so the blog will be quiet; it promises to be a fun journey. I fly to Oslo this evening, then spend Thursday and Friday in the Finnskogen, a wooded area to the north east of Oslo. I’m giving a speech on EU welfare states at the United seminar organised by JEF and Europeisk Ungdom Norway. I then take a night train to Stockholm and will spend Saturday and Sunday with Helena on an island in the Baltic and return to London on Monday. All I need is some farsk potatis och sill and that will make the perfect Nordic weekend! 🙂

I’m back now… Managed to eat some farsk potatis, some Strömming (cooked herring), and even some lingon sylt. The weather was not typically Nordic though – warm and sunny! Also, Nordic efficiency was lacking when it came to the train service – massive delays with SJ between Oslo and Stockholm… 🙁
… and lutefisk.
oh what a lovely plan! Can’t help but envying you!!!!
Have a lovely time Jon … and say hi to all the JEFers who will be at United who I happen to like! xxx
