The Special SAP Congress was supposed to be about the future. Or at least that’s what I had been led to believe. Yet all that seems to have happened has been a drawn out series of thank-yous to Göran Persson, and him talking. First it was him in the morning, then again in the afternoon, together with some twee pictures of him on a film and an excruciatingly embarassing song from a Schlager singer (Anne-Lie Rydé) who even kissed him long on the lips at the end of the song. Eugh! It’s horrid. There was some sort of ‘debate’ where party people each spoke for 1 minute, and the mood of the Congress is positive and optimistic, but this is not really the professional and motivating Congress the party needs.
