JEF-Europe yesterday published a spoof newspaper – The Daily European – that speculated about future scenarios for the European Union and how it will be in 2057, 100 years after the Treaty of Rome. I’m quite happy that JEF has done this newspaper once more – when I was in the board with Alison and Jan Kreutz in 2002 we made a similar newspaper to present to members of the Convention on the Future of Europe. I wrote a column for the current edition, speculating that by 2057 a female Turk had just been elected President of Europe, Norway had finally managed to join, and it was by 2020 that Europe had finally agreed a decent federal Constitution.
